KINDS OF BUSINESS APPRAISALS
The kind of business appraisal you will need usually depends on the purpose of the appraisal. If the purpose is to get an idea of how much you can sell your business for, you may need only a verbal report or a brief written report. If the I.R.S. or an opposing attorney may question your value, you probably will want a carefully researched, thoroughly documented written report.
Southland Business Group offers three
general types of appraisals:
- Buyer/Seller Consultation
We analyze your
Companys financial statements; tour your facility and ask lots of
questions; and give you a verbal estimate of the range of value. This is the
least expensive service available.
- Opinion Letter
A brief, written report, often one or two pages,
giving a range of value; i.e., "the value of the Company is in the range of
$1.3 million to $1.6 million."
- Written Report
This type of report can be as
extensive as the purpose calls for. It could be from six pages in length to 60
pages. It almost always requires thorough research and documentation, although
the research and documentation is sometimes summarized (a Summary Report)
and sometimes explained in full detail (a Fully Detailed Report).
For appraisals in which litigation is involved, Southland
Business Group will provide testimony only after doing careful and thorough
research.
